Complinet's 4th Annual Compliance Awards celebrate a decade of success
John Tattersall, PricewaterhouseCoopers, named compliance "personality of the decade"
London, UK — January 21, 2008. Complinet, the leading provider of solutions that deliver relevant compliance intelligence to industry professionals, has named John Tattersall, of PricewaterhouseCoopers, as the compliance "personality of the decade" during a special presentation at its Fourth Annual Compliance Awards ceremony. The inaugural award, which was designed to commemorate Complinet's tenth anniversary year, was presented during a packed dinner, attended by more than 380 at Grosvenor House, London, on January 17.
The ceremony celebrates the talent, dedication and value of compliance practitioners across the financial services industry; it is recognised as the industry's most prestigious awards. “The growth of this event in recognition and stature demonstrates the huge strides that the modern compliance professional has made and the respect attached to this function at regulated firms,” said Alex Viall, founder and Complinet Group Chief Executive, North America.
In other categories, Rajiv Vyas, of AXA Rosenberg Investment Management, won the coveted "Compliance Officer of the Year" award and Clive Shelton, of IFDS, was named "Money Laundering Reporting Officer of the Year". A total of 12 awards were handed out to recognise excellence.
Dan Waters, head of retail policy at the Financial Services Authority, acted as master of ceremonies for the first time; he succeeded David Kenmir, managing director at the FSA, who has stepped aside after three successful years at the helm. Waters' skills at the podium were demonstrated early in the evening when he broke into song, revealing an operatic prowess that few regulators could hope to match — as well as an astute comic sensibility. He was ably assisted by broadcaster John Humphrys, a presenter on the Today programme, who participated in a Mastermind spoof that left the audience in stitches.
Chris Pilling, founder and CEO, Complinet Group, said: “The awards were a reflection of the collegial and professional nature of the compliance community-- coming together to applaud and support their collective successes. We were proud to share our 10th anniversary with the industry at the awards, which themselves exemplify just how far Complinet has come in the last decade.”
