Welcome to Complitech 2007

Complitech 2007 took place on May 17 to May 18 at ExCeL. London. The doors opened to a wave of excitement as visitors queued to enter. This year's show had a new look and feel to it, which gave exhibitors an unrivalled opportunity to interact with some of the most influential members of the compliance community. The show floor was awash with activity and one of the highlights was the fast track customer lounge on the Complinet stand. Guests were encouraged to relax with a cappuccino and a copy of the Financial Times, and were rewarded with a complimentary massage at the end of the day.

The conference offered visitors the opportunity to hear from top industry practitioners on the main financial compliance technology issues that are currently affecting the industry. Speakers from a number of leading organisations, including the FSA, Barclays Wealth, Morgan Stanley, PricewaterhouseCoopers, ABN AMRO, Allianz Investmentbank, Citigroup, Royal Bank of Canada, Deutsche Bank and BNP Paribas shared their perspectives on the challenges ahead.

Highlights of the opening day included a thought-provoking interview on identity theft and fraud, practical case studies on KYC technology solutions to minimise online fraud, and a workshop discussing the pros and cons of building or buying your own compliance technology solutions.

Day two saw the culmination of the MiFID panel discussions, plus an enlightening workshop led by Simon Wilkin, AMLO, Investec Bank who discussed the role of technology in anti-money laundering. The closing keynote panel discussion addressed the IT challenges of the next 12 months for UK and European financial services and indicated that the compliance community will face an increasingly daunting and challenging compliance technology task in the year ahead.
