Anand Doobay has extensive experience in dealing with a wide range of proceedings instituted by the SFO, HM Revenue and Customs and the CPS. Anand has particular expertise on tax and regulatory investigations. He is recognised as a leading authority in advising on extradition and mutual legal assistance matters. His clients have included governments, corporates, professionals and individuals.
After training at Lovells, Anand joined Peters and Peters as an assistant solicitor and became a partner in 2005. He is co-author of the leading practitioner text "Jones & Doobay on Extradition and Mutual Assistance" (Sweet & Maxwell) Anand serves on the Foreign & Commonwealth Office's Pro Bono Panel, the Law Society's Criminal and International Human Rights Committees and on the Law Society EU Criminal Law Working Group.
He was a member of a Law Society Committee which assisted with the Society's response to proposed reforms resulting in the Extradition Act 2003. He was a Task Force member of the EU Project on "Better Bail Decisions". Anand regularly writes for legal journals and the financial press and is a frequent speaker on his specialist areas. His memberships include: Legal Action Group, Society of Asian Lawyers, London Criminal Court Solicitors Association, Amnesty International and Transparency International. Anand was recently awarded the title of "Successful Solicitor of the Year" by the Society of Asian Lawyers
