John Beadle, director of the Insurance Fraud Bureau, retired as Detective Superintendent of the Serious and Organised Crime Group in 1996.

He then transferred his skills and experience as a senior detective in the Metropolitan Police to the private sector. His first role was as a Director for Capital Group, a large publicly quote company that provides security and other similar corporate services. In 2000, John became the Counter Fraud Manager for Royal & SunAlliance. At RSA he was responsible for the development and implementation of their counter-fraud strategy.

As a member of the ABI's Financial Crime and Anti-Fraud committees he has advanced the insurance industries response to the risk of fraud. John has also helped to develop a collaborative approach to the industry's fraud problems and has advocated the sharing of knowledge. He encourages the use of new technology and has helped to create the industries' datasharing project, which later became the Insurance Fraud Bureau.

He is now the Chairman of the IFB and is looking forward to leading the industry's fight against fraud.
