Frank reportedly ready to bar federal funds for future bailouts
House Financial Services Committee chairman Barney Frank (D-MS) is ready to ban the use of federal funds for future bailouts, committee member Brad Sherman (D-CA) told Complinet Saturday. Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner told the committee Thursday that a systemic risk regulation bill would not use taxpayer dollars to resuscitate failing systemically risky businesses. Sherman challenged him by listing several provisions that would permit unlimited federal help for failing non-bank financial institutions.
