The Conference of State Bank Supervisors launched an expanded website Saturday offering a wide range of tools, news and policies on submitting proper applications for state mortgage licensing and advice on maintaining licensed status.
The CSBS' nationwide mortgage licensing system is maintained by the group's affiliate, the State Regulatory Registry, and was built in conjunction with the American Association of Residential Mortgage Regulators.
As Complinet noted, when the NMLS was launched less than two years ago, it was part of a plan to improve regulation and bring more uniformity across state lines in mortgage supervision. The efforts included coordinated supervision, better regulatory practices, and consistent standards for training and testing mortgage originators.
