OFAC removes three 'former terrorist supporters' from blacklist pursuant to UN review process

The US Treasury Department's Office of Foreign Assets Control has taken the unusual step of removing one person and two entities from its list of "terrorist supporters". Patricia Rosa Vinck was removed from OFAC's blacklist, as were Barakaat International and Barakaat International Foundation. According to OFAC, it decided to initiate the removals "having found that Vinck and the two entities no longer present a significant threat of supporting terrorism". While such removals are rare, and these are the first to occur this year, they do happen occasionally. These removals occurred "in conjunction with" the removal of the three names from the blacklist maintained by the UN's 1267 Committee.
