Storm Financial principal Julie Cassimatis claimed yesterday she never received an e-mail sent by the company's chief financial officer which said she and her husband were not entitled to the $2 million they took out of the company as it faced insolvency.
Mrs Cassimatis told the Federal Court sitting in Brisbane that she had asked the company's joint CFO Lauren Davies to transfer the $2m into her husband Emmanuel's account early on the morning of Monday, December 15, last year.
Lawyer Craig Wilkins, acting for Storm liquidator Worrells, produced an e-mail from Ms Davies to Mrs Cassimatis sent later the same day which said that following a meeting with PricewaterhouseCoopers and advice from Mallesons it seemed the payment was not legal.
In the e-mail Ms Davies asked that the payment be "reversed", but Mrs Cassimatis told the court yesterday she did not recall getting the e-mail or knowing about it. When Mr Wilkins asked her why she did not receive the e-mail, Mrs Cassimatis said
