Complinet's independent consultant Nick Paraskeva met with Cindy Armine at Citigroup's offices on Park Avenue in New York. One year after the break of the credit crisis, and on the eve of new regulatory oversight, this seemed a timely moment to take stock of how the role of compliance has been affected by the crisis and to ask what further changes were in store. Armine was appointed to the role of chief compliance officer for Citigroup in summer 2008, just before the crunch. In this age of job-hopping, the appointment came after a 28-year career at the firm and its predecessors. (Full disclosure, the interviewer's own prior role as a compliance officer included a period working at Citigroup.)
