Head of Compliance & Legal

This leading commodity hedge fund is keen to hire an exceptional candidate to join them as Head of Compliance & Legal.

Based in London, the successful candidate will have responsibility for the global compliance and legal affairs for the firm. You will be responsible for all elements of compliance within the firm including, (but not limited to):

  • Monitoring regulatory change and assessing impact on the business
  • Implementation of changes to internal processes to meet future regulatory requirements
  • ICAAP preparation
  • Transaction monitoring
  • Personal trading
  • Internal registrations to regulatory requirements and filings
  • Maintain and constantly update the compliance manual
  • Organize whatever training is required for staff
  • Understanding the requirements for each particular exchange traded on
  • Demonstrate in depth experience of CTFC and NFA
  • Additional responsibility as registered CF11

In addition to compliance oversight, you will also be responsible for monitoring and negotiating all legal documents associated with the business including:

  • Fund documentation
  • ISDA documentation
  • Counterparty agreements
  • Outsourcing agreements
  • General corporate documents (employment contracts, leases, partnership agreements, etc)

You should have extensive experience of operating as a CF10 and CF11 in a recognised hedge fund and this should be combined with a significant understanding of and experience in global commodity markets, related financial instruments, exchanges and regulators.

Experience in effectively negotiating and managing the legal affairs for a hedge fund is a necessity for this role, including being able to effectively utilise and manage outside counsel in these negotiations, whilst ensuring maximum benefit to the company. To this end, a formal legal qualification could be useful.
