Senior Compliance Manager - Major retail group

This major retail financial organisation, a top domestic and global brand, have a fresh opening in their compliance unit for a high calibre, experienced compliance professional who is capable of assuming a broad range of work (mainly advisory) and operating credibly at any level internally, and externally.

The ability to deliver to and impress senior business heads is key.

This is a potentially a very fulfilling role, in a high performing institution. Internal progression opportunities within the group will also certainly exist for a high performer

Key areas -

• Ownership of discrete projects
• Oversight of the governance and compliance of Financial Services related regulatory risk across the wider group.
• Implementation of standards, development of policies, procedures and appropriate controls environment for Financial Services related regulatory risk management for overseas businesses.
• Acting as a key point of contact for all external and internal stakeholders
• Providing policy support and interpretation across Regulatory Compliance and the business as a whole on various regulatory issues including FSA rules, consultation and discussion papers and relevant Codes and regulations including the Banking Codes and Directives such as the Payment Services Directive.
• From time-to-time assist in the interpretation of relevant in country overseas as well as UK regulatory environment to support appropriate advice to the business on their impact and the degree of control required utilising local subject matter experts where required.
• Input into monitoring as and when required.
• High profile both internally and externally.

The person -

• Strong body of relevant experience and achievement in a responsible managerial capacity at a large retail house
• Credibility to face off effectively at any level in the business
• Ability to work across boundaries.
• Ability to drive a strategic agenda whilst influencing on short-term regulatory and business proposals.
